Haojie Zhu, Ph.D.
Research Assistant Professor
Haojie Zhu Ph.D. is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. Dr. Zhu received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from China Pharmaceutical University in 2004. He completed his post-doctoral training in Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacogenomics from 2004 to 2008 in the Medical University of South Carolina. Following his post-doctoral training, Dr. Zhu remained at the Medical University of South Carolina as a Research Assistant Professor prior to joining the faculty at the University of Florida in August 2009.
Research Interests
Dr. Zhu's research focuses on identifying genetic and non-genetic factors that contribute to interindividual variability of the expression and activity of drug transporters and drug metabolism enzymes. Through a combination of both in vitro and in vivo approaches, he is working to understand the mechanisms underlying the regulation of drug transporters and drug metabolism enzymes, and its consequent influence on the disposition, therapeutic efficacy, and toxicity of medications. The long term goal of his research is to utilize these findings to improve the efficacy and safety of drug therapy.
